Dale Janway Re-elected as Mayor of Carlsbad

Following Tuesday’s municipal election, Mayor Dale Janway has won a third term in office, beating his rival Richard “Dick” Doss by a count of 1,867 votes to Doss’s 1,087 votes.

Results have also come in for the city council elections. For Ward 1, council member Lisa Anay Flores narrowly defeating rivals Chad Ingram and Mark Williams by a margin of just two votes- a close call, no doubt. In Ward 2, Leo Estrada won another two-year term as city councilor after facing stiff opposition from J.R Doporto. In Ward 3, Judith Waters has returned to city council, defeating her great opponent Bill Niemeier. Finally, for Ward 4, former Ward 3 councilman Wes Carter has become a city representative for Ward 4. He is also working with Mark Walterscheid, the newly elected councilman for Ward 4.

The results from the election will become official on March 9th following thorough canvassing.
