October has arrived in full swing, and with it are spooky costumes, pumpkins and — of course — Carlsbad’s 37th Annual Oktoberfest. The celebration will be tomorrow, October 5th, and is sure to be full of good times, good food, and good friends — everything needed to have an amazing Oktoberfest!

The celebration is being held by Carlsbad Rotary with hopes of promoting Carlsbad’s diverse culture and raising money for the charities currently sponsoring the event. Oktoberfest, for those of you who may be unaware, is a traditional German celebration that happens in the fall season. This year’s Oktoberfest will be hosted in Holiday Park, and will feature traditional German foods such as sausage, sauerkraut, and schnitzel. The event is even endorsed by Mayor Matt Hall, who is quoted as saying “The Carlsbad Rotary Oktoberfest is a Carlsbad tradition and fun for the entire family. Every dime raised goes to support worthy local causes so come and join the fun.”

Already the group has been able to gather over a million dollars in donations for charity, with more surely on the way. It’s plain as day that the Carlsbad community will benefit from this year’s Oktoberfest, as it has in all those years past. If you’re looking for a good place to relax with a good meal or a good drink (craft and domestic provided by Budweiser/Markstein) be sure to attend! If you go, be sure to bring sunscreen and sunglasses, though — the forecast calls for plenty of sun!
