Does School Prepare Us for The Real World?

Schools are everywhere in the world. We spend fifteen to twenty years in school. Some people who graduate do not get an education on how to do their taxes, making a financially secure life for themselves, or how to successfully raise children. The school system is cheating students out of making their lives successful.

The ways the system cheats students out of experiencing how the real world works are virtually endless. The main way schools do this is through not preparing students to cope with failure, confusion, rejection, and many times loneliness. Students must learn how to cope with these trials because reality can be a cold and dark place.

Many students may focus more on other things rather than work or possibly get distracted, this may cause them to later cheat on exams or other work. As parents pressure their child to have a good grade this can also cause cheating if they do not understand the concept.

School only prepares us for the self-contained world that is the classroom and to restrict our freedoms especially in college. Many classes are chosen and outlined by the government. Mostly, it does not prepare adequately to fight our fears and phobias or provide safe havens when we are afraid. So many students fear going to school because of the bullying and the school does not prepare us to fight our fears and keep our hopes up when others are trying to bring you down.
