Teachers and students are always in an argument about having cell phones in class. They can be helpful with research but not everyone thinks that way about phones and tablets. Here are a few pros and cons about digital devices in school.

Having digital devices in school can have some positive affects for teachers, students, and parents. Parents are always on edge about their child’s safety all the time. Having their child keep a cellphone on them will give the parents a peace of mind while the student is at school and there is an emergency.

Devices can also help teachers and students with lesson plans and assignments. Teachers can pull up videos about each subject to show students in different ways with words and pictures to understand the concept of the subject. Students can use their devices to research questions or information and also look up current events in the world.

Having digital devices could also have a negative outlook on student’s education and safety. Instead of student’s researching and learning, they tend to look up inappropriate materials on the internet, cheat on tests and assignments, and can easily get distracted by games or social media.

If a student is constantly looking at a digital screen, it can cause health and safety issues as well. They can be involved with cyber bullying or be talking to a child predator. It also provides a disconnection with face-to-face activities, family communication, and nature.
