Higher education is extremely expensive when pursued formally. For some countries, college tuition fees border on the astronomical. Subsidized education usually applies only to the recipient’s first bachelor degree. What happens if the student wishes to pursue other subjects? What then?

Obviously, it would be too expensive.

This fall, I will be matriculating at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where I will be studying business administration. At the same time, I hope to widen my intellectual horizons beyond the world of finance and management.

As such, I have decided to embark on “The MOOC Polymath Project”.

What is a MOOC?

A course of study made available over the Internet without charge to a very large number of people.

What is a polymath?

A polymath is a person whose expertise spans a significant number of different subject areas; such a person is known to draw on complex bodies of knowledge to solve specific problems.

“The MOOC Polymath Project” is an embodiment of what I wish to attain — an affordable education that spans breadth and depth. I hope to curate and construct a curriculum drawn from the undermentioned MOOC and material providers.
