Rumors proved true as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced the company is changing its name to Meta.

“Meta” is Gen Z slang for self-reflective, like the definition of definition.

But for Zuckerberg, Meta is all about going beyond. “The word ‘meta’ comes from Greek word meaning beyond,” he said at the Oct. 28 virtual conference.

“For me, it symbolizes there’s always more to build, there’s always a next chapter to the story. It’s a story that started in the dorm and grew beyond anything we can imagine.”

That’s true. Nobody could’ve fathomed how much Facebook would grow over the years. With 2.89 billion users currently, that’s a lot of power over the people.

And that's why people are complaining, as having such vast influence over the masses should surely require strident measures to keep people safe and prevent abuse. It's why we need more humans because the bots are winning in everything from fake news to identity theft.
