I am grateful to all of you for checking out The Moonshot Catalog and devoting some of your precious reading and mind time to it. The rollout package on July 17 included a Welcome Letter, an article about moonshot-caliber challenges that humanity has taken on with success, a piece on the relationship between philanthropy and science-centric goals and achievements, and three moonshot articles — on the future of food, disease, and aging. Tomorrow, I will post the next moonshot article. Written by journalist Craig Collins, it will change the way you think about the global cement industry, which currently accounts for up to 8% of the carbon dioxide that humanity spews into the atmosphere. Sounds like billions of tons of low-carbon cement (and concrete) technology, including materials that effectively breath in CO2 from the air and lock it into our constructed landscape, could help. Ambitious, yes. Dauntingly difficult, yes. It’s one more thing: achievable. That’s what makes it a moonshot project. You will want to read this article.

Onward!
