As one of the most highly anticipated meals of the year approaches, the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders are inviting residents to shop local for all of their Thanksgiving dinner ingredients.

Freeholder Linda Hughes announced that Saturday, Nov. 18 from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. at the Burlington County Agricultural Center in Moorestown will be hosting its annual Fall Holiday Farmers Market featuring seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables, artisan cheeses, local meat, baked goods, chocolates and live entertainment.

“This family-friendly event is a fun way to get into the holiday spirit,” said Freeholder Hughes, liaison to the County Department of Resource Conservation. “Before you go to the grocery store, the Freeholder Board and I encourage residents to come out this Saturday to the Agricultural Center, support our local farmers and take advantage of all of the great produce they have to offer.”

As part of the Fall Holiday Farmers Market, the Freeholder Board and the County Department of Resource Conservation are again partnering with the Marine Corps League Detachment №695 of Burlington County to promote their Toys for Tots drive. The league collects unwrapped toys every year to be distributed to disadvantaged children during the holidays.

“The Freeholder Board is proud take part in this important effort again this year to share the holiday spirit of giving with those in need. Any new toy, large or small, will make a difference,” added Freeholder Hughes. “Residents may drop off their generous donations this Saturday at the Agricultural Center during the farmers market.”

In 2005, the Freeholder Board established the Burlington County Agricultural Center as an educational facility focused on food production, health and nutrition, and land stewardship. The Agricultural Center features a weekly Farmers Market on Saturdays from May to October, as well as special events and educational and culinary programs held throughout the year.

The Burlington County Agricultural Center is located at 500 Centerton Road, Moorestown, NJ 08057.
