Moorestown Friends School seniors named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists
Moorestown Friends School seniors Abhay Aradhya and Lauren Brill were recently named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists.
Aradhya and Brill are part of a group of approximately 16,000 high school seniors who are now eligible to apply to become finalists, and they have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 8,000 National Merit Scholarships worth about $35 million. The top 16,000 students are those who scored in the 99th percentile or above on the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Semifinalists are the highest scorers in each of the 50 states and represent less than 1 percent of each state’s high school seniors.
National Merit Scholarship winners of 2014 will be announced in four nationwide news releases beginning in April and concluding in July.
These scholarship recipients will join more than 300,000 other distinguished young people who have earned the Merit Scholar title.
