The U.S. government has left states with the power to either lift restrictions or extend stay-at-home orders, and this is a major problem.

State governors across the country are deciding to ease restrictions and guidelines that, health officials say, could bring new outbreaks and lead to more deaths.

This map shows which states are reopening or continuing to remain shut down.

I am sure you have heard of protests across the nation urging for their state government to end lockdowns, and this may seem like most Americans are against the lockdowns, but this demographic is only a small percentage of how Americans feel about the situation.

Data shows that most people view the stay-at-home orders as necessary, with some uncomfortable with going out in public.

In a survey conducted by The Marist Poll sponsored in partnership with NPR and PBS NewsHour on April 21 through April 26, the survey found that most people are against the idea of reopening schools, having people return to work and having restaurants open to the public.

This survey asked people if it was a good idea for students to return to school.

The survey was conducted for a variety of people coming from different backgrounds, including political affiliations, race, region, education, income, age and gender.

This survey asked if people think it is a good idea to have people to return to work.

These surveys show that this issue is bi-partisan and is a threat to all walks of life, with the row of people thinking it is a bad idea ranging from 60 percent to 90 percent.

With Americans from both sides of the political spectrum agreeing that America should not reopen, state governors who plan to reopen their states completely like Arizona, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and North Carolina, should think about the consequences that this will cause.

Dear state governors, listen to the people who oppose the reopening of America and please have our best interests in mind. If we can continue to flatten the curve and practice social distancing, things will return to normal, but if you lift these guidelines, things will continue to be the way they are.
