One year ago on Valentine’s Day 2018, we released Florence, a 40-minute long interactive storybook about love and life.

Since then, Florence:

We couldn’t be prouder of how our little game has done, and we’ve been overwhelmed by how well it’s been received! To everyone who played, shared, blogged about, streamed and made fanart of Florence, thank you so much from everyone here at Mountains! Thank you to everyone who wrote in to us to tell us about your experience, we really appreciate your thoughts and feedback.

Soundtrack on vinyl!

If you’ve already listened to Kevin Penkin’s original soundtrack to Florence (Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Google Play Music), you know how incredible it is. We’ve just announced that the soundtrack is also now available as a limited edition collector’s vinyl, via our friends at iam8bit. Preorder here!

What’s next?

Many of you have asked us if Florence will ever get additional chapters, or maybe even alternate endings. We feel that the game tells this part of Florence’s life to completion. In some ways it was painful for Florence, but she came through it as a happier, stronger person.

In the immediate future, Ken will be giving a talk at the Game Developer’s Conference about how we made Florence and what we learned. We have a few other public talks and awards shows coming up this year. Our official Twitter is the best way of hearing about frequent Florence news.

Meanwhile, it’s been an exciting year of growth and development for us at Mountains. We’ve expanded the team from four to eight people. We’ve made some changes to the way we work, communicate and collaborate, as part of our ongoing commitment to making Mountains a happier, healthier work environment.

And of course, we’re hard at work on an exciting new project. It’s still a bit too early to speak about, but if you follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or via our mailing list, you’ll be the first to hear about it!

Thank you again, to everyone who played Florence. You made our dreams come true!
