Managing Morning Sickness
Tips from a 3X mom currently experiencing it.
By now, I know that it’s worth it. The all-day nausea, heartburn, and frequent vomiting. Not to mention the limitations on your activity that all of the above causes. It’s worth it when you get to take that sweet little baby home and you can focus on them and healing yourself. When you’re out of the purgatory of pregnancy with severe morning sickness and into the newborn stage. That comes complete with its own challenges of course but at least you’re not running for the toilet or trying not to throw up in front of other people.
I’m currently pregnant with my third child, and the morning sickness is as bad as ever. Let’s not even call it “morning” sickness because really it can strike at any time. I’ve learned a few things along the way about managing nausea and vomiting in pregnancy, here are my tips for any of you currently struggling.
The first and most important of these is to eat frequent, small meals and snacks. Not just crackers. So many people (doctors included) will tell you to keep crackers by your bed and reach for them before you stand up to avoid vomiting in the morning. That never worked for me.
It matters WHAT you eat, and what you should be eating is as much protein as you can stomach. Things like almonds, eggs, yogurt, cheese…
