What Should You Do When Strangers Offer You Food in the Playpark?
Eat it Gratefully or Yell What Are You Thinking We’ll All Get Covid?
“Why don’t you have a go on the slide?”
“No”
“What about the digger see-saw?”
“No, sit on bench with mummy”
We both sat on the bench. My son watched the girls playing in the playpark from a safe distance.
After a while, their mum came over to my son; “why aren’t you playing?” She had a big bag of children’s crisp like things which the girls were eating, and she offered my son some. The crisps were Russian, she explained. My son was happy and wolfed one down. She offered him some more, putting them in his pockets, and again told him he should play.
It’s not the first time we have been given food in that playpark.
A couple of times we have turned up when a group is having food there and been offered something. One time it was a birthday celebration and I got a nice cake from a local patisserie, and my son got one of those weird snacks they make for kids pretending they are healthy because they have jam in them, and jam contains fruit.
