“one strand of hair at a time”

PIXAR enters the 21st century with a leap into a monster universe that will delight you, charm you, and leave you baffled at the fluid motion of blue hair on a body. The animation world had not yet attempted to bedazzle us with this new simulation and in 2003, many were bewitched to see Sully’s hair swerving from left to right in an effortless dance.

However, all three-million-singularly-animated hair aside, Monsters Inc yet again proves that the creative team behind PIXAR wields an ingenious digital canvas that not only redefines animation itself but also provides a story for all ages.

James P. “Sully” Sullivan and his one-eyed partner Mike Wazowski are members of Monster Incorporated, the company that fuels Monstropolis with children’s screams. After a child accidentally enters the monster world and finds herself into the duo’s lives, they desperately try to find a way to bring this unwelcome human back home. Full of endearing imagination and a pure message at its crux, Monsters Inc is a tear away from being the studio’s strongest work. It sheds a light on a popular fear that children have and flips it on its head. Much like PIXAR’s other ventures into children’s emotions, what they do best here is unearth a real childhood subject and, with a flick of the studio’s magical wand, manage to paint a vivid and playful universe with creatively visualized Monsters at the helm.
