In recognizing the important role that parents, spouses, family and friends play in a student’s educational journey, Rowan College at Burlington County’s Student Success office has opened an online Parents and Families resource center and will hold special orientation sessions for parents this summer.

“As the father of a college student, I understand the excitement and anxiety of helping a loved one transition to college,” RCBC President Paul Drayton said. “We are here to help you navigate the process and learn about all of the support systems we have in place to help your family succeed at Rowan College at Burlington County.

“We strive to create a family environment that fosters success as students enter the workforce or continue their education through our premier Rowan University partnership,” Drayton said.

The resource center is available at rcbc.edu/parents and contains:

Frequently Asked Questions.

Tips for parenting a college student.

Relevant reading materials.

The college has also added special break-out meetings during certain New Student

— Orientation sessions geared toward parents and families.

“Success is easier with a strong support network and we welcome families’ participation at this important and exciting time,” said Cathy Briggs, dean of student Success. “We encourage parent and family members to reach out with any questions or concerns they may have and to be fully engaged with their family member’s education.”

Parents and family orientation sessions are scheduled for:

6 p.m., Wednesday, July 13 in Laurel Hall room 320.

6 p.m., Wednesday, July 27 in Laurel Hall room 320.

6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 10 in Laurel Hall room 320.
