The Fortune Teller

This month we have a special mini MUFF profile for you! Juliet Ross is one of the multi-talented young directors of The Fortune Teller — this month’s official Mini MUFF selection. As Mary-Kate and Ashley were both actors as well as directors/producers at a very young age we thought this short film (which was directed and stars four super talented kids) was the perfect pairing for IT TAKES TWO.

The Fortune Teller is the story of a group of young girls who come across a paper fortune teller. They begin to play with it, asking it questions, but… when a young boy comes to caution them about the fortune teller, they decide to continue playing, disregarding his warnings and quickly come to learn the consequences of that decision.

See both It Takes Two and The Fortune Teller at this month’s MUFF event on Wednesday August 16th at The Carlton Cinema!

The Fortune Teller screened at the 2017 TIFF Kids International Film Festival as part of their Jump Cuts Young Filmmakers Showcase, where it won Best Overall Film. The film was directed by and stars Juliet Ross, Carla Costea, Mckenna Mubanda and Aias Dalman. It was produced through Young Moviemakers, an award-winning acting and video production program in Vancouver for children and youth ages 5–17. Participants in the program learn the importance of visual storytelling, scriptwriting, acting, editing and more, through the creation and production of a short film. So cool!
