Scribbling my hopes and prayers into the faded pages of half priced journals

My composition books worn from every note to self I wrote to

future versions of the same girl

East A shawty

East A shawty

African or Atlien any given day

I code switch on the daily

Getting in where I fit in and sometimes it’s wherever I can

Loosen the grip on these masks I’ve created for any occasion

Mama do you even know who you are?

Always been that poet that resilient stoic

that shrugs of identities because what I have ain’t mine

I owe it

to God my guiding light

He reminds me I’m just traversing this earth for a moment

You want peace you better sew it

Cross stitch it my beloved but remember to stay open

Let experience teach you there are no words here left unspoken

I’m currently ready ‘the untethered soul: the journey beyond yourself’ by Michael A . Singer wherein he explores the concept of staying open. Staying open means to become the witnessing consciousness that embraces the human experience regardless of whichever turn that may take. I’m reminded that life is happening and that what is occurring is apart of my experience here on a floating planet in space.Whenever I take life a little too seriously I’m reminded of this simple and yet powerful truth. After all we shall leave at some point. Why not stay open to whatever comes, without resistance but with intuitive responses to our respective realities.
