Chances are, you’ve heard his music. But do you know his name?

Well, I’m ashamed to say that up until a couple months ago, I knew next to nothing about Harry Nilsson. Which is kind of crazy, considering how many billboard top hits he had (these included “Without You,” “I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City,” and “Remember,” among others). Nilsson was also friends with The Beatles — particularly John Lennon — and was sometimes even referred to as “The American Beatle.”

So anyway, there’s a lot to be said about Harry Nilsson. But today I wanted to specifically delve into two of his songs that I’ve gotten slightly obsessed with recently.

“Gotta Get Up”

To be honest, I can’t pinpoint exactly what it is that I love so much about this song. As with so many pieces of music that I love, there’s just a certain intangible quality to it that immediately thrills me.
