You think you know what your ‘best music’ is? Think twice.

Before investing in music videos, further promotion etc., read this post.


One of my articles got read more than 1.2K times in less than a week. I didn’t think it was my best piece, though. In a conversation, a fellow musician pointed out:

It was inspiring thats why. It was an eye opener as well. For me, it was very useful.

The same thing happens with music. What I really love is rarely the pieces the others like.

It’s good to push what other people love and share, because it gives more exposure for you and your brand. In this way of thinking, it makes sense to do a bit of ‘research’ with your audience before you invest in a music video or further promotion.

On the other hand, if you structure your main strategy under this idea, you will end up going where your audience wants you to go and become totally unoriginal, away from the path of innovation. You need to trust yourself and what you think it’s ‘best’ for your music, articles, brand, you name it.

From my experience, the right balance is the key. And you find it through experimentation.
