Guys, never play yourself!!!
*This is a True Life Story*
First: 👇🏾
Today is Good Friday and I had quite a day, a lot of traffic and disc kept skipping in the car radio. I ejected the disc and just decided to listen to radio, not knowing I was going to get a story out of it. I was listening to Radio Continental and they had this mid-day show where people could send in messages for friends/loved ones whose birthday was today. This is how it works, you send the message to the radio show and the person who’s birthday is today is called from the show and then guesses the name of the messenger. There are only two guesses, if you don’t guess at all, your message won’t be delivered.
Here is the interesting part, the radio show host called a particular lady, lets call her “Rihannat”and wished her a happy birthday. This lady was in a bad mood initially (or sounded so) and the host told her to guess the name of the person who could have asked for them to send her a message. She guessed a name initially and she was wrong, she could only guess twice and if she is wrong, the host will read the message and the name of the Messenger. The host asked for boyfriend’s name and she mentioned his first name, surname and other names.
Her two guesses were wrong and the host read the message to her. It was a very deep message of love, support and value. His message sounded very sincere and full of appreciation to her. I do not really remember the full message but the beginning was:
To Rihannat, my girlfriend
If only he knew, he wouldn’t have started with that line and I felt very bad for him. The host read the message and she then mentioned the name of the messenger. The host asked her who he was, she said “he is my friend” then, the host asked “just a friend?” She replied again, “he is just a friend” The already moody host now asked her “does he know he is a just a friend?” and she said yes emphatically.
At this point I could only feel bad for the guy and the funniest or savage thing about the saga was that the host now asked that “Pray for Me” by Darey Art Alade be played for our brother in the friend zone; myself and my Dad just bursted into laughter.
One does not simply get of the friend zone!!!
To my brothers, please never play yourself! If you are not sure of what your friendship/relationship is about, please don’t involve yourself in any PDA
So, to you guys in the friend zone; listen/watch and be blessed!
