Back in 2016, there was a clown show going on in America. No, I don’t mean the Presidential election, I’m talking about weirdos dressed as clowns being reported in many towns and cities all over the country.

The reported encounters varied from clowns just standing somewhere looking creepy, to them trying to lure children into the woods, to chasing people with weapons.

A Rundown of Some of the Incidents

In August 2016 in Greenville, South Carolina, children reported to authorities that some people dressed as clowns had tried to lure them into the woods behind their apartment building with money.

In September, children in McDuffie County, Georgia reported being chased by two men wearing clown masks as they walked to their school bus stop. The screams of the children alerted their parents who then called the police.

That same month in Pottsville, Pennsylvania 12-year-old Brianne Hawke said she was chased through a park after some clowns emerged from the woods throwing sticks and yelling profanities.
