Known as ‘The Natural State’, Arkansas offers tourists some of the most scenic and beautiful places to visit in the entire United States. However, one of its biggest attractions is something apparently supernatural: the Gurdon Light.

What is the Gurdon Light?

Those who have seen the Gurdon Light describe an eerie, glowing illumination of either white-blue or orange that bobs and moves through the trees and can best be viewed when the weather is cloudy or overcast.

It can be found around 75 miles south of Little Rock down Interstate 30, two-and-a-half miles down a hiking trail to where unlabelled railroad tracks cross state road 53.

Unlike many such phenomena, the Gurdon Light has not only been regularly seen by locals and visitors alike, but also photographed by a TV documentary crew (Unsolved Mysteries in 1994).

Although it is reported to always be present, the best chance of seeing it comes at night — and therefore the longer evenings of autumn and winter provide the ideal backdrop.
