John George Haigh, who became infamous as the ‘Acid Bath Murderer’, was indeed a man who shook post-war Britain. In a rural area of Britain, during the years 1944–1949, Haigh murdered six individuals, and to destroy the evidence, he used sulfuric acid to disintegrate the bodies.
He was financially motivated because he wanted to make riches and live the life of the rich and famous. Haigh’s way of getting rid of the bodies through the use of acid can be said to be making the right drama attract the attention of the entire nation.
Indeed, Haigh was very smart and smooth-talking. He could easily trick his victims because he knew how to appeal to their emotions. He could not be bothered by conscience anymore, as he would stop at nothing to get what he wanted.
From this case, one can see the disgusting acts of John George Haigh and the mentality of a monster-killer but also the intellectual, smart, and cruel sides of that man that turned him into one of the most famous serial killers in Great Britain.
