I design with my Client and the future in mind. The future life of the people I am working with and obviously the future re-sale value of the house.

There is a Guest Bedroom/Study with a separate entrance right at the front of the property. This serves two purposes, it means that if you are using the space as an office and are holding meetings at home, their guests can walk straight into the office. The En-Suite Bathroom also means that visitors never actually have to go into the main house.

The other advantage is that if it’s being used as a Bedroom for a elderly relative or someone who is unwell, emergency services can quickly and easily access that part of the house.

As you go through the Double Volume Entrance, you walk straight into a Double Volume area with internal balcony above. The space is flooded with light. To your right is the entrance to the Guest Bedroom/Study.

You walk through a Library, past a generous Covered Patio that leads onto a Courtyard Pool. The Guest W.C. is also tucked away on the opposite side, right by the main Double Garage. It’s easily accessible for Guests, but is private.

There is a Private Lounge to the right, the glass double doors opening onto the Kitchen and Dining Room can be closed for privacy, but there will be no loss of the feeling of space and light. Notice the TV is strategically placed so when there is a Braai (BBQ) people can still check out the Rugby or Football or whatever, whilst they are busy roasting big hunks of meat and borevors.

The Kitchen has a large breakfast bar and separate Scullery and Pantry. This leads onto a screened Courtyard with a spacious Staff Quarters. It’s worth making your Staff Quarters roomy, in the future this room could be used by a teenager or a student. And in the meantime while not spoil your house-keeper?

Both Garages are extra long with loads of storage.

I have tried to incorporate as much storage as possible in this house. As I designed it, I imagined walking through the space and also was thinking about how the First Floor and roof would work as well.

You will see the Staircase is on the left hand side. It is totally screened off from public view and there is additional storage below it.

There are two further large Bedrooms with En-Suite Bathrooms at the front of the house, a generous landing leads onto a Pajama Lounge and Study Area with a Coffee Bar. The Master Bedroom also has a lot of storage — a Dressing Room and Drying Room lead onto a large Bathroom with free standing bath.

The Master Bedroom has access to the main Balcony and has it’s own private Balcony. There also space for a small sofa or lounge chairs so you can curl up with a good book and get away from it all.
