Don’t Be Precious
Day 4: How to prepare for NaNoWriMo one day at a time.
Don’t be precious
In July, I stumbled on a series of videos about bullet journaling.
The idea of these beautiful journal pages intrigued me.
The makers demonstrated various ways to create gorgeous pages and double page spreads.
One spoke about a ‘Dutch door,’ or the manipulating of a sheet of paper by folding or cutting, to reveal previous and future pages.
Journaling cheerleaders discussed the reasons why their system gave focus to their otherwise chaotic days.
Journaling saved time. Helped relieve stress and past traumas. Provided a path toward the future.
I was intrigued.
I purchased a journal.
Then I returned the thing.
Something wasn’t right.
One had no lines.
Another had lines but the pages were not numbered.
The bullet journal advocates wanted me to use a journal where the pages covered with a grid of dots.
These dots provide a method to divide the page into uniform shapes, rectangles, or just lines.
