NaNoWriMo Prep — Catching Up
You’ve planned to daily writing schedule. But what happens when you miss a day? Two day? A week?
In high school, Mrs. Webster, our English teacher, assigned us to read Mill on the Floss by George Elliot.
The book is 579 pages long.
We would take four weeks to read the book. But there was no set homework.
I remember dividing the book into 30 bite-size chunks for my daily reading.
Then, I grabbed a handful of those large paper clips and sectioned off 20 pages at a time.
That seemed doable. Right?
Wrong.
I hated to read.
I still dislike reading physical books.
I get distracted, impatient, and frustrated that I can only stare at a page deciphering black letters on a white background.
I’m pretty sure I have some still undiagnosed reading disability, but I’ve found many workarounds in my adult life that have helped me to really love reading — although not in the traditional sense.
Day one: I might have read the section. I don’t really remember.
Day two: Nope.
Day three: Still no.
