The eighth month of 2020 saw some powerful improvements for the Nano protocol, as well as a newcomer take this month’s iteration of the Nano Community Project Award. Nendly, a novel social media site utilizing Nano, was hailed by August’s team of independent community voters and selected for the award.

Nendly is a social media platform aimed at competing with the Reddits and Twitters of the world. For a deep dive into the philosophy behind Nendly, check out this video by the creator, SonderDev, below.

The clean and simple design behind the Nendly platform cleverly hides some key differences in how this site works compared to incumbent platforms. The primary difference lies in the way the voting system determines the content that is seen by others. This change is intended to remove problems inherent with vote brigading seen on popular social media platforms like Reddit.

With this new social media platform, we may have taken an important step to removing the effectiveness of our own personal “opinion bubbles”, and Nendly takes a step toward a more open and productive discourse.

The Nano Community Project Award is a monthly award designed to recognize some of the more impactful projects within the Nano community. Each month, an independent panel consisting of active members within the community is assembled to pick a winner. The panel chooses a winner who will receive $1,000 in Nano and the honor of being recognized by their peers for their hard work.

This month’s community panel consisted of Qwahzi, NoRotor, Ajshark, Vyryn, Keeri, Andy, Pilsner_Maxwell, and jabz.
