This month was another easy decision for the judges on this month’s independent panel of Nano community members. They quickly chose to award the July Nano Community Project Award to Nault, a new wallet created to improve upon the now-discontinued NanoVault.

Nault sprang up as a joint effort from two of Nano’s most productive community developers, Json and BitDesert. Nault’s predecessor, NanoVault, was a longstanding open source web and desktop wallet that included support for Ledger. After the wallet stopped receiving regular updates and maintenance, the need for a more reliable standalone wallet was apparent. Thus, Nault was born.

Nault includes a few hugely important new features, such as rep selection and diagnostics, which tells each user if their representative is offline or slow, and suggests a new one. Another novel feature recently rolled out to Nault is offline transaction signing, which gives those security-conscious users a bit of extra peace of mind.

As people continue to look for new ways to use Nano and a Ledger hardware wallet, Nault has entered with a big bang, and is gaining users at a rapid pace. It’s important to acknowledge the work done by the NanoVault team previously as well. By standing on giants, we can all reach a bit higher.

If you’re interested, you can find the original Reddit post introducing Nault here. You can also follow along with the development here.

The Nano Community Project Award is a monthly award designed to recognize some of the more impactful projects within the Nano community. Each month, an independent panel consisting of active members within the community is assembled to pick a winner. The panel chooses a winner who will receive $1,000 in Nano and the honor of being recognized by their peers for their hard work.

This month’s community panel consisted of Step, Ty, hotio, Mitche50, globalcookie, ajshark, exmuerto, jayycox, frakilk, and of course Andy of the Nano Foundation.
