COVID Finally Found Me
In a game of hide and seek, COVID always wins
Miles of sentences have been written and published on the topic of COVID. Over the course of the past four years, we’ve all had a lot to say about the spiky protein virus that dramatically altered all of our lives.
Both good and bad words have been written, and I have read plenty of them. Heck, I even wrote a few. So when I sat down to write about my own recent COVID journey, I wondered if there was anything new to say.
Maybe not, but I am going to try anyway.
On Christmas Eve 2023, there were seven people that I knew (including me) who had not yet danced with the wily and persistent trickster known as COVID.
A few days after Christmas, the list had been reduced down to only 2. And I was no longer on the list.
My COVID story goes like this: My sister-in-law went to visit her grandma. During the visit, Grandma said she “just had a little cold.” Sister-in-law came back and a few days later we get together and have a lovely Christmas Day.
Grandma’s little cold ended up taking down all five of us who were seated at the Christmas table.
That is a 100% hit rate. Impressive. Our own five-person super spreader event.
