Recovering from a recent bout of illness brought some urgency about dealing with our home and contents.

Two weeks ago, I awoke at two am with intense pain in my feet, especially on the right. By morning, I was frantic. I have never experienced gout, but I thought perhaps this was what I had happening to me. There was intense pain and redness on my right foot, and a very sore left foot as well.

I had just recently had blood clots in my leg as a result of Covid-19. But I am on blood thinners due to that episode. And what about the increasing redness? Not all the symptoms seemed to fit my Wikipedia diagnosis.

My husband and I talked and almost decided to wait and see what developed over the weekend. Luckily, because I was so uncomfortable we opted for the emergency room.

Tests were run. Cellulitis? I had never heard of this. But turning 70 this year seems to come with so many added instances of new illness or infirmity. Who called this time of life the “Golden Years?”

I was off my feet for about 5 days, and I have just today been able to walk comfortably on both feet, thanks to strong antibiotics…
