The Narrative Arc had a busy month. October typically ramps up, as many writers enjoy more time to work on stories. For many writers, young family members are now back in school and the day opens up. The cooler weather gives me an excuse to get a cup of coffee and write, and I know some of you feel more creative when gray skies roll in. Sally Prag, for example, gets an autumn boost of creativity! Many of us do.

I hope things are improving for some of you following the recent horrific storms. India has dealt with flooding and weather. In N. Carolina, residents deal with the aftermath of bad weather. If you haven’t read Doug Brown’s story about Hurricane Helene, check it out below.

Thanks to Scott Lamb for featuring it as a staff pick. Good eyes (and heart), Scott!

Twenty-six stories were boosted from The Narrative Arc this month
I’m proud to share these stories, as I’ve worked so hard at editing many of them. Thanks as well to Christine Schoenwald and to Joe Guay - Dispatches From the Guay Life!, dedicated editors at The Narrative Arc. They also work hard to make sure your essays shine.
