The Terror of Someone Trying to Break Into Your House
I don’t hear noises the same anymore
It was the most terrifying night of my life thus far. I went to bed thinking things would be normal, not thinking I may wake up and be fighting for my life. But it was enough chapter of chaos that I’d just have to contend with.
For context, there was loud construction happening around my house. I’d bought a new house fifteen months before in a quickly developing part of Tampa, where real estate prices were skyrocketing.
Unfortunately, my house was one of those rushed pandemic houses, when builders urgently got buildings up to sell as the real estate bubble swelled.
The home bombed inspection, as a huge design flaw was revealed — which led to reconstruction happening on the property. This is what it looked like for six months as I came and went:
