Kind of getting there, but haven’t even started

In this series we are documenting the journey of building DULO, starting from Day 1. Every week we publish a new chapter that takes you behind the scenes of our process. With every article we want to provide value to you, the reader. We share the success and failures, the opportunities and the challenges that we face while executing our vision.

If you are new, check out our previous post.

This past week, we were guests on the How do you know? podcast, hosted by Andra Zaharia(our episode will air in a few months, follow us on Twitter to get the memo when it does) and I had an interesting observation, while we were sharing our journey so far, our thoughts on entrepreneurship, our process, decision making and how we are approaching building this business in general.

Even though this business is not a massive success yet, by sharing our opinions/experience, I am surprised how many things we’ve learned by just starting, doing and going through the process/struggle of getting a business off the ground.

It’s even more surprising that knowledge-wise it seems like we’ve traveled quite a bit on this journey, even though it feels like we haven’t even started, comparing where the company is currently to where we are aiming to take it to.

Being your biggest fan

Another positive is that we also seem to be quite aware of what our roles (Julian Samarjiev & Marin Gerov) are in the business, what we each want to stand for, how we are sharing responsibilities, taking decisions and contributing as personalities to the team aspect of building a company with a co-founder.

This may not sound humble, but even though we realize that we’ve achieved almost nothing so far, I’m a big fan of how we are approaching this and I believe that the frameworks, processes and decision-making habits we have are quite unique and I completely trust that they will play out to make this company a success in the long-run.

Another stab at influencer marketing

On another topic, this last week we had an interesting meeting with one of the founders of Voicey, a very interesting influencer marketing platform. We will probably give it a whirl with two main goals:

  1. Brand awareness through sponsored posts
  2. Content creation in terms of partnerships with influencers to create visuals for our social media channels as well as nice social proof imagery for our website.

Social proof is a big thing when it comes to making a product more relatable, especially important in our case when it’s a new brand in quite a new product category.

As always, we’ll be sure to share our findings and results using Voicey and influencer marketing in general, once we have some.
