Mandalorian Monday: “Chapter Eleven — The Heiress”

More jetpacks, more gadgets, more Mandalorians. The perfect recipe for the perfect episode. Here is my review of the latest episode from The Mandalorian.

Editor’s Note: This blog contains spoilers from the eleventh episode of the Mandalorian.

and must read blog. I claimed the biggest negative of the previous episode, titled , was the lack of a progressing storyline. Well, this is the first episode of Season 2 that reintroduces the main storyline. Speaking of reintroductions, this episode of also reintroduces a fan favorite character from and promises to introduce another sometime in the future.

I’ve watched the episode three times. And after each viewing, I became more and more excited about the future. The storyline is progressing, which is exciting. The Mandalorian reunites with his people. He learns where he can meet a Jedi. Furthermore, the episode mentions the Darksaber. Overall, the episode was perfect because the adventure is moving forward, once again.

Speaking of other Mandalorians, the introduction of a live-action Bo-Katan, a fan favorite character from The Clone Wars series, is the best aspect of this episode. Bo-Katan is portrayed by , the same actress who voiced Katan in the animated series which is purely awesome. Simply put, Bo-Katan is a badass, and she’s leading a rebellion. Her goal is take control of Mandalore from the remnants of the Empire — and to take back her weapon, the Darksaber, from Moff Gideon.

Furthermore, Bo-Katan and two other Mandalorians — Koska Reeves and Axe Woves — take off their helmets in front of the Mandalorian. To him, this action is shocking and un-Mandalorian. The latest episode expands Mandalorian culture and lore, which is one of the greatest aspects of the show. Why do some Mandalorians remove their helmets and others don’t? Well, it is revealed that the Mandalorian was raised by a group of religious extremists. He is a “Child of the Watch”, a group of Mandalorians who strictly follow the old, traditional ways. The idea is incredibly intriguing, and once again, The Mandalorian expands on the culture, the history, and lore of one of the greatest races in the galaxy.

The action sequence in this episode is incredibly exciting, and is one of the best action-packed scenes of the series, so far. During this scene, the Empire is attempting to get the Gozanti starship into space to join the Imperial fleet, and receive help. However, with Bo-Katan’s goal of taking the ship prevailing, the captain of the starship is ordered by Moff Gideon to crash purposely. This is the first appearance of Moff Gideon in Season 2, and he’s just as cold-blooded as fans remember. Once again, proves to be an amazing actor.

Eventually, Bo-Katan and the Mandalorian take control of the Gozanti starship. After the successful raid, Bo-Katan informs the Mandalorian to go to the city of Caloden on the planet of Corvus, a location fans haven’t been introduced to yet. It’s always exciting to see new locations. Furthermore, it’s also always exciting seeing familiar, fan-favorite characters. And the Mandalorian has been instructed to find one — Ahsoka Tano. When Bo-Katan mentioned Ahsoka’s name, I jumped for joy. If you’ve read this blog, you know big of a deal Ahsoka Tano is.

Overall, this was an excellent episode that genuinely advances the adventure forward, which the previous two episodes have failed to do. The main plot and story of The Mandalorian is back, and better than ever, with the appearance of Moff Gideon, the Darksaber, and Bo-Katan’s goal to take back control of her home world.

The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda are finally, finally is on their way to meet a Jedi. After months of speculation, the show confirms the appearance of Ahsoka Tano, which is converting into a live-action extension of The Clone Wars. I’m not complaining.

Also, the Mandalorian needs a new ship. The Razor Crest is toast. This is the way.
