At just fourteen years old, Zach faced challenges no child should endure.
He was diagnosed with leukemia in August 2001. His young body didn’t handle months of chemotherapy. So his spine was collapsing.
The vertebrae in his lumbar region were compressed, causing terrible back pain. So, Zach needed some form of external support.
That’s why his father took an appointment at a private clinic to get a back brace.
The day Zach’s life changed
The morning began routinely enough.
Zach got dressed. And his father brought his younger brother along for the appointment.
The family began by drawing Zach’s blood to check if everything was right. Then, around 10 A.M., they headed to a clinic for Zach to be fitted for a back brace.
