The NDE (near-death experience) of Virginia Drake
At 46 years old, Virginia Drake taught at a Catholic school, owned a farm, and walked four miles every day. She felt healthy and happy.
One evening, Virginia sat in her living room watching television. A strange program caught her attention. An older man with oxygen equipment was speaking directly to the camera.
“Don’t get a heart transplant,” he kept saying over and over.
Virginia looked around her empty room, confused. It felt like the man was talking straight to her. “I take 93 pills a day,” the man yelled.
Virginia thought about how much she hated taking pills. Ninety-three pills seemed impossible.
“I will not get a heart transplant,” she said out loud, raising her hand toward the TV. “I’m 46 years old. I’ve got a great heart.”
One week later, June 2nd, 1998, started like any other Monday. Virginia was at school helping students take down bulletin boards. The school year was ending, and everyone was laughing and having fun.
But Virginia kept feeling a sharp pain in her chest and shoulder.
