The past few months have marked a watershed moment in human history. A world brought to its knees by a virus, crippled by shortages and deaths, and countless other difficulties marked the first few months of 2020. But just as in the past, when faced with difficulty, the human spirit has never been stronger and the future has never looked more bright. When we emerge from this crisis, we are sure the world will be ready for a new beginning. It is with this hope, that we, the coordinating team of 2020 write this final post before we pass the baton.

WSC Team 2019–20

The year 2019–20 was a year of achievements for the club. It began with members of club bagging the second position at National Finals of International Quant Championship, for the second year. This was followed by a member of club ranking in the top 12/500 at GS Quantify, 2019. The club also witnessed a record turnout in inductions, with over 500 applications. The members of club bagged internships in top financial firms like WorldQuant, Futures First, and Axxela Advisory.

In terms of new initiatives, the club started a personal finance lecture series in addition to regular series on finance to address various questions of students related to banking, taxation, and other aspects. Following the tradition, the core rose up to the challenge and delivered brilliant lectures, which made it a huge success. We would also like to acknowledge the contribution of Saransh, who played an instrumental role in making this possible. The club also started a project through Technology Incubation Programme in the domain of Fixed income which saw healthy participation.

The investment team following in steps of illustrious investors undertook various projects performing a thorough sector analysis in order to understand the various avenues for investment. Combining this research with astute stock picking, they identified 7 strong emerging and leading stocks. In order to kindle an interest in Quantitative finance, the Quant wing along with CTE offered an introductory course on quantitative finance. In addition to lectures, assignments, and innovative projects, the team organized a 2-day workshop with a quant at one of the top banks, to give students a flavor of the field. The program was a huge success generating considerable enthusiasm from budding quants.

The club also started pages on Instagram and Medium. We would like to thank Naman, Arul, Anjali, Medhavi, and Vayun who managed the Instagram page brilliantly, keeping us entertained with witty posts. We would also like to thank Avneesh, who with bite-sized summaries initiated the interesting discussions on various groups. The deputy editors of the medium page, Wall Street Club Journal, Rohan, Avneesh, and Naman did a phenomenal job building our presence here through well-researched and interesting content.

Finally, after a rigorous selection procedure, we take huge pride in handing over the reins of the club to the next group of coordinators-

President- Rohan Kishore

Vice President- Saransh Gokhale

Investment Head- Naman Shah

Quant Head- Aditya Aryan

While all the applicants showed exceptional talent and ability, we feel this team is best suited to lead the club to greater heights. On a final note, we would like to thank the previous coordinating team for giving us this opportunity to contribute to the club. We would also like to thank all the members of the crew and core without whom none of the initiatives would have succeeded. It was a pleasure working with you all.

Signing off,

Wall Street Club Coordinating team 2019-20
