Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian

Once upon a time,

Steve & Alexis attended a lecture by an entrepreneur and VC, Paul Graham.

They had an idea. A food ordering app called My mobile menu.

They pitch their idea to Paul.

After speaking, Paul invited them to apply to Y Combinator.

But, they were rejected.

Steve & Alexis decided to start again.

However, they never could anticipate where the next idea will come from.

Paul showed them Slashdot — a social news website.

He asked Steve & Alexis to build a product like that.

They start working on the idea that Paul called the “front page of the Internet”.

Within 20 days Reddit was born.

They didn't just copy & paste.

They realized the upvote and downvote is what Slashdot missing.

They build a better product than the previous models.

Today, Reddit is one of the top 20 websites in the world.

Where is the Slashdot?
