Don’t Surround Yourself With Positive People

95% are faking it. The other 5% were born charmed.

Life is too short to spend in the company of lotus eaters.

Surround yourself with people who are not afraid of the roughness and the richness of variegated weaves and wear their tattered afghans in public.

Look the sickest person you know square in the eyes and ask if they will hold the mirror a little higher so you can get a really good look.

Seek out the person who will drive across town in the middle of the night to help you during a year when you’re not speaking to each other.

Every time you push that negative thought away or cull the stumbling one from your circle, the frequency of the howl inside you rises, the one that breaks everything.

Don’t mistake that for a good vibration.

I wish for you to feel the most intense joy and self contentment; I know you won’t find it by gritting your teeth and smiling so hard it hurts. Find the ones who don’t ask that of you.

Find the people who will laugh at you when the pudding dribbles down your chin and you can say, in your last days, “You’re such a bitch and I love you.”
