Myth

b : an unfounded or false notion

Many have called Paulo Dybala a world class talent, and amazing player with great footy ability. While this may be true, he has not done anything unbelievable or ground breaking. The good news is he’s still young right. So let’s take a look at at what I mean.

Dybala during his season that put the world on notice at Palmero, was a special one. Scoring 13 goals and 10 assists, he kept that team a float for a year in Serie A. Once he left, they were relegated. He was sought out by huge clubs but decided to go to the Old lady, and continue his career. While playing with Juventus, he has won 2 Serie A titles and went to a UEFA Champions league final, but with that being said he is completely overrated.

Dybala in big games continues to not show up, and not be a factor at all. In 8 World Cup qualifiers totaling 320 minutes, he has 0 goals and 0 assist. In 4 international friendlies, Dybala has just 1 assist, but that’s not enough to call him overrated right? Let’s take a look at his Champions league stats. His first year in Champions League he had 7 matches , and just 1 goal. His second stint in Champions league, he played in 11 matches and had 4 goals, and in the final he look flustered and out of touch at times. He was in Real Madrid’s pocket, and unable to escape and find space at all.

Dybala is still young and has plenty of time to grow and find himself in big games, but as of today, he just has not shown to be a threat in anything other than league games. Often times, those games are not won because he scores in them but rather through the strong defensive play from the team and tactics of Juve’s mananger, Massimiliano Allegri. One day he may show some backbone but until then he will be known as overrated.
