From nothing to something: A Portuguese striker story

For years, my beloved Portuguese National Team has been searching for the #9 to replace Pauleta for almost a decade now.

We mighttttttttt have an answer now. The best part is, we might have 2 answers: Diogo Jota & Andre Silva.

Jota, the recently signed Atletico Madrid striker who’s enjoying a loan spell back in Portugal at Porto, notched his 3rd goal in 5 appearances last night vs Leicester.

Andre Silva is the next one up for a big money buy from Portugal. He’s been involved in 5 of Porto’s 6 Cl group goals to go along with his 7 goals in 12 league games. Most recently scoring the opener vs the Foxes with a headed effort.

Time will tell if either of these two go the route of Pauleta or if they go the route of the dozens of failed Portuguese 9's.
