Zinedine Zidane’s squad will be looking to keep the league title race close and collect all 3 points against Salvador “Voro” González’s Valencia CF at the Santiago Bernabéu. Los Blancos are currently placed in 2nd behind arch rivals Barcelona and Valencia sit in 12th.
The first time these two clubs faced off Valencia CF defeated Real Madrid in a 2–1 victory. Zidane and his players will surely be looking for revenge in this important match to keep them in reach of the title.
I believe we will see Zidane setup in a free-flowing diamond with Isco inserted into the starting IX after his recent display against Deportivo. Zizou has a selection dilemma due to great performances from Asensio, Morata, James, and Kovacic against Deportivo. This just shows how much talent Madrid have secured for the future.
The visitors, Los Che, have been on rollercoaster this campaign, although they have improved and look to be out of the relegation grim reaper. They recently were defeated away from home 3–2 by Real Sociedad. Los Murciélagos tend to step their game up against Real Madrid, so the Merengues will need have sharp focus, which has been a big issue this season for them.
Both of these clubs will be up for this game. Valencia, will feel confident knowing that they have already defeated Real Madrid earlier this year and will look to put a dent in their title chances. After losing the El Clasico to Barça last week Real Madrid can’t afford to drop any points if they look to hold up their 33rd league title. They now have put even more pressure on themselves with just 5 league matches remaining with a game in hand against a tough Celta Vigo team.
My projected lineups:
Real Madrid XI: Navas, Carvajal, Nacho; Ramos, Danilo, Casemiro, Kroos, Modric, Isco, Benzema (Hopefully Morata), Ronaldo.
Valencia CF XI: Alves, Montoya, Garay, Abdennour, Siqueira, Enzo Perez, Dani Parejo, Carlos, Soler, Nani, Orellana, Munir.
Prediction: Real Madrid 2 (Ronaldo, Ramos) Valencia 0
