Indoor Herb Garden
I got the window box planters done- just in the nick of time. The herbs parked in my bathtub were starting to look a bit pale and peckish — actually a bit like I look at the end of January every year………
Anyway, the plants were totally happy to get some sun. I got the planters from Amazon.com — they are made by Lechuza. The planters are self-watering; they have a planting liner piece that nests inside a larger waterproof container. There is a cavity between the liner and the outside container that holds the water.
The bottom of the liner is covered with this water-absorbing material that looks like small rocks. You pour water into the cavity through spaces on the end. There is a glass bulb that shows how much water is in the planter, so you can easily tell when it is time to water again. I used organic potting soil to set the plants into place. It looks like a nice system but time will tell.
I haven’t found any borage yet — still looking, but in the meantime I have planted basil, rosemary, thyme, oregano, chives, and Italian parsley.
