Ember is an esports organization based in Santa Monica, California.

What is the General Manager role?

The general manager is accountable for winning. This is the most influential and scrutinized position on the team because you decide how the owner’s money is spent on players. You will scout, recruit, manage, and fire the player team, coaching team, and analyst team. You will remove as much burden from the players as possible outside of specifically assigned responsibilities.

  • Scout: Supervise scouting analysts and work with the coaching staff to build the highest performing team possible.
  • Recruit: You will manage player contracts. Specifically, you will structure performance pay packages (different for each position and player, dependent on tracking variables in training, life, and performance).
  • Manage: You will establish performance indicators and manage performance reviews. You will help our players build their personal brands in a way that brings strong value to Ember. Train them to be social media content creators and less social media consumers. You will ensure players fulfill sponsor requirements and protect sponsor interest on the inside, while protecting player interest on the outside.
  • Fire: You have final say in firing decisions for players, coaches, and analysts.

What kind of people are hired for this role?

We need the essentials: a natural leader with strong organizational skills. You should be well-connected in the esports scene and have a pulse on rising stars and top performers. You must be willing to move into the team house in Santa Monica, California.
