Back in the day or for those younger readers, way way back in the day, like the eighties, my family would spend the entirety of the month of August every year at a rental cabin in the north woods.

Being a kid, of course, I took it for granted that my family could spend a month together away from the city, living a wholesome lifestyle spent largely outdoors in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula for a solid twelfth of the year.
