Cartoonist Matt Lubchansky is joining The Nib as our editorial assistant. Yay! But who is this person?

Lubchansky draws the weekly webcomic Please Listen To Me and began contributing original work to The Nib last month, like this new comic on atheist neckbeards.

“I’ve basically considered myself a cartoonist since I was about 10, when my parents got me a drafting table instead of telling me to go outside,” he says.

Not All Man

Matt’s going to be helping me and associate editor Eleri Harris manage our day to day publishing schedule, as well as tweeting on twitter, contributing his own comics, and working with me on a SECRET PROJECT.

A younger Matt Lubchansky actually wanted to become a professional editorial cartoonist, so naturally he enrolled in engineering school.

“After failing to become my college newspaper’s editorial cartoonist, I sort of gave it up for a while,” he says.

But then he un-gave it up and started drawing again. He worked as an assitant to an artist until recently when he left to pursue comics full time.
