What does it mean to be a comics publication that covers current events on a much larger platform with a social element to it?

We’re going to be doing some experimenting at The Nib to figure that out, starting with using Medium’s “response” feature in a variety of ways.

We tried it out last week with a series of comics imagining what other brands would participate in the #RaceTogether campaign launched (then quickly abandoned) by Starbucks.

This week we set some of our contributors loose to respond to other cartoonists as well as posts living in other Medium publications. Zach Weinersmith’s “How to Filter Internet Harassment” has two responses under it and we added to Eleri Harris’ “Women By The Numbers” piece. Matt Lubchansky saw that the sharing economy is good over at Matter and Rich Stevens responded to posts in Backchannel, Matter and The Message.

Expect to see more of this. More responses, more back and forth, and more debate. We’re starting to think of another topic to have a bunch of contributors do comics on next month. You can, of course, leave a response and let us know what you’d like to see.
