The Nib, now a “brick-winning” magazine!

This weekend at the Small Press Expo in Bethesda, Maryland, The Nib won an Ignatz award for Outstanding Series for the first four issues of our magazine. Most of the editorial team was on hand to receive the prestigious red brick on a simple wooden stand — our first award!

To celebrate, we’re selling back issues of the magazine for 20% off in our store with the code IGNATZ.

From left to right: Eleri Harris, Matt Lubchansky, The Brick, Matt Bors, and Andy Warner.

And if you’re wondering why the award is an unmarked brick, The Ignatz is named after the mouse who would throw bricks in the classic comic Krazy Kat by George Herriman.

It was quite an honor for us on SPX’s 25th anniversary year, especially given the ups and downs the publication has recently faced.

We’d like to thank everyone who made this possible, including our members who supported the launch of the magazine, the more than 100 contributors to the first four issues, and designer Mark Kaufman, who took the look of this magazine to the next level.

If you don’t already have the early issues of this award-winning comics publication, the Empire and Family issues are available in our store. (The Death issue sold out, sorry.)

ORDER HERE and use the discount code IGNATZ at checkout to get 20% off.

And our latest issue, Scams, can be purchased by becoming an Inkwell member for as little as $4 a month. Sign up to help us keep producing this all-comics magazine unlike anything else being published today.
