A while back, I sent a letter to the followers of my growing publication thanking them for their support. In that letter, I also encouraged my readers to reach out with any cannabis-related questions or concerns. And to my great surprise, they responded! One message in particular caught my attention:

Dear Dr. Lowry,
I’m wondering what you know about CBD and how it might affect hot flashes in menopausal women. My hot flashes had been gone for over half a year when I started taking CBD oil for my back pain. Soon afterward, my hot flashes returned. I’ve tried to look for more information on the internet, but all I get are advertisements telling me how good CBD is for menopause. Do you know more about this?

As it turns out… no, I knew nothing about hot flashes at all. But the possibility of CBD causing hot flashes was intriguing. After all, we know that THC has an effect on female hormones, so it’s not impossible for CBD to have some effect. This was a chance for me to help out a reader and learn something in the process. So, I dug in and did some research to find a connection between CBD and hot flashes.

What Is A Hot Flash, Anyway?
