June is synonymous with sunshine, sweltering summer days … and beach weddings … which may have something to do with June deriving from Juno, a Roman queen and goddess of marriage.
In Roman mythology, Juno was a daughter of Saturn, the wife of (the unfaithful) Jupiter, and the mother of Mars, Vulcan, Bellona, Juventas and Lucina.
Juno’s sacred animal is the peacock and those born in June can include moonstones and pearls amongst their birthstones.
During the month of June, we celebrate several awareness events, including Juneteenth, Pride, PTSD Awareness Month, and Men’s Health.
